With Yu-Gi-Oh! card sales topping 15.8 billion, Konami has contacted Guinness and applied for a card game sales world record. There is currently no Guinness record in the category.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! card game was first released in 1999. Since then, the game has been released in 45 countries.
Yu-Gi-Oh! is believed to have set another record in 1998, when 17.5 million copies of its video game were sold.
